5 Great Places to Work Remotely in New York

With New York City being home to a large breed of entrepreneurs, freelance graphic designers, writers, web developers and of course students looking to make money online, technology has now allowed it to become pretty much one big office space. With nearly everywhere offering Wi-Fi with your coffee, it’s actually better to work out and about in a nice relaxed environment, as opposed to in your apartment staring at the same four walls you see every single day. So grab your laptop and check out one of the five places found on this list.

  • Ace Hotel lobby – Midtown, 20 West 29th street.
No reservations needed, just pop in through the hotel doors and park yourself down on the comfy chairs of the coffee shop to the left as soon as you walk in. You will soon find yourself immersed within the perfect setting to get down to doing some hard work. Of course there is always time to chat to the nearest interesting person or grab a bite to eat. The pastries here are out of this world I assure you!
  • Ace Bar – 531 east 5th street
Pool tables, beer and interesting people, it is definitely one of the more entertaining places to take your work, just try not to become too distracted and actually remember why it is you are there! It is one of those bars that always has a very nice relaxed atmosphere with soft music at a nice volume and the sound of pool being played in the background as you slump in a cozy leather chair with a cold beer in hand.
  • Hip Cup Café – 225 Park Row
Another great café in New York which invites you sit down and enjoy a steaming cup of hot delicious coffee whilst you work using their Wi-Fi access. I hope you don’t mind the odd chat because there is always an interesting character found in Hip Cup Café!
  • Dogpatch – Union Square at 36 East 12th street
Perhaps the absolute best in free co-working spaces and definitely the most relaxed, Dogpatch has been home to some of the greatest entrepreneurs New York has ever had! With a kitchen that is always stocked full of goodies as well as snazzy sofas to kick back in, it is almost like a home away from home. The only people that use Dogpatch are freelancers and entrepreneurs, so you will easily connect with likeminded individuals.
  • New York Public Library – Various locations
No list of Wi-Fi hotspots would be complete without the New York Public Library. If it is peace and quiet that you are after, then you will surely find it here! There is also thousands of books worth of reading material for you to get your hands on when you fancy a break from all that hard work.

Of course at the end of the day it is up to you and your tastes. Not everyone likes a nice relaxed atmosphere and instead they thrive on a buzzing environment. Others enjoy a much calmer surrounding with little to nothing going on. With so many options to choose from in New York, you won’t find it too hard to find the perfect spot to work remotely.
