How to Make Money Online by Blogging
If this blog hasn’t proved this already, there are always monetization and business opportunities online. Some of these opportunities are subtle, cunning, or hard to find. Others seem very accessible but perhaps a little difficult to cash in. Today I will talk about the most accessible money-making opportunity online: Blogging.
Blogging Is Never a Waste
Even if your blog isn’t particularly “successful,” as in it doesn’t get millions of views and big money in ads, blogging can always be a valuable activity. First, there’s the natural benefit that it clears your head, just like writing anything down clears your head. You’d be surprised how many thoughts and ideas you have that you try to retain in your head. Keeping all these ideas bottled up keeps them undeveloped and inarticulate. Simply writing them down gives them clarity and demands definition.
Blogging Networks
Blogging does more than this; it inherently networks you with people interested in what you’re blogging. Granted, this does take a good amount of marketing efforts, but you are at least likely to find a few devoted readers or fellow bloggers through your blogging efforts. Through blogging, you can develop some valuable relationships with experts that could help your career down the road.
Blogging Showcases Your Strengths
In addition to this, blogging also gives you an inherent work sample and resume booster. Sure, you might not want to put any blog on your resume, and perhaps you have a blog or two detached from your name. But there a huge amount of blogging opportunities that are perfect resume boosters. If you blog about anything related to your career (and of course you write and represent yourself well), any future employer will view it as gold.
Blogging Markets Your Products and Success
One of the biggest benefits to blogging might not even be the direct revenue you receive from the blog itself. Much of the business strength of blogging is the marketing power you will have for yourself. In addition to collecting revenue from ads (which I will get into below), you can market books or any other product you can imagine that’s related to your blog. And if you’re already writing a blog anyway, you might as well write a book; just make sure that the blog and the book don’t overlap completely.
Makes Money Blogging – Yes You Actually make Money
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet, but blogging can actually earn you a good amount of money. Through ads, CPA affiliate networks and programs (like Amazon Associates), and donations, you can stand to make a surprisingly large sum of money if your blog has enough traffic and you monetize it effectively. The most basic thing you can do that works is using Adsense although affiliate programs are really easy to use as well. If your blog is really picking up steam, you could stand to make some big money with ad banners and RSS monetizing.
Bottom Line
While I realize that blogging is not the easiest way to make the big bucks online, I am arguing that it is still a great use of time for anyone financially or business savvy. If you are looking for an extremely quick dollar, perhaps you should look elsewhere online. Blogging is about creating valuable content in exchange for (usually) valuable results. Sometimes the result is direct cash but it could just as easily be a reputation boost, invaluable business connection, or (at its most basic) a good discussion.
